From a very early age I have been a maker, creating art and designs. Today my UX work is driven by a deep curiosity of user needs, data analysis and technology. I have been crafting human-centered software experiences for over 24 years.
User experience may not be seen as an art form, however art plays a part of my approach. I love working with my hands on whiteboards or on paper before jumping into the computer. Plus, some artful play is a great icebreaker for relieving tensions and alignment in a group think session.
For me personally, the more strategic design effort put in the better a product will be. Striking just the right balance of design effort is where I guide others and do my best work. I consider design as iterative before and after a product is released, measured and enhanced... than rinse and repeat.
Collecting feedback from users is where my curiosity really starts peeking. Applying proven UX best-practices gives us a foundation. Listening carefully, measuring and gaining insights from users with usability research is what sets my work apart. I have always learned something new from real users, even when I think I have a design nailed down.
Harvesting data and siphoning customer insights is where I blend the art and science of design together. Understanding data deeply in the context of UX design and product deliveries is not always easy and sometimes the truth hurts.
Working directly with an agile squad or strategic alignment across an enterprise, either way – I care deeply about each relationship.
I pride my self is being able to craft accessible HTML. My curiosity is always searching out fresh info for taking advantage of the available technology.
